You'll own the technology behind how PayJoy reaches customers in collections, and turn it from something we maintain into something that drives results. That stack includes Customer.io, our data pipelines, external data (EDC) integrations and a growing set of AI vendors.
Your work will be visible and measurable. Better segmentation, smarter automation and clear vendor testing will lift recovery in every market while cutting manual work and cost per contact. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes building, testing and seeing their changes move real numbers.
Key Responsibilities
- Run Customer.io for collections. Build and monitor workflows, messaging sequences and treatment triggers. Fix configuration issues, data mismatches and workflow failures so campaigns keep performing in every market.
- Automate what's still manual. Design treatment triggers, escalation logic and contact-sequencing rules. Spot manual processes that can be automated, and document every setup so the team can rely on it.
- Keep the data flowing. Build and maintain SQL/Python pipelines that feed customer and account data into Customer.io. Watch data quality and fix failures before they hit campaigns, working with our Data Analyst and Engineering.
- Connect external data. Set up and maintain EDC and third-party data integrations so new sources are validated and ready to use. Keep integration workflows and data dictionaries up to date.
- Test and scale AI tools. Pilot new collections tools such as conversational AI and smart contact prioritization. Measure each vendor against a control group on recovery, cost and ROI, then double down on what works.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in a data, CRM, marketing-automation or operations role
- Hands-on use of Customer.io or a similar platform (Braze, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable or similar)
- Working SQL: you can write queries to pull, join and check data on your own
- Experience with workflow-automation tools
- Understanding of A/B tests or treatment-vs-control experiments and how to read their results
- Care for data quality: you notice when numbers don't add up and dig in
- Comfort learning and setting up new tools with little supervision
- Clear writing and the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical teams
- Advanced English and a bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
- Python for data pipelines or scripting
- API integrations with external data sources or third-party providers
- Collections or credit operations experience, especially across LatAm, South Africa or the Philippines (treatment strategies, days-past-due segmentation, agency assignment)
- Databricks, Snowflake, Infobip or similar messaging gateways
- Customer data platform (CDP) concepts and multi-channel contact strategy
- Evaluating AI/ML vendors
- Spanish, Portuguese or another language spoken in our markets
