Senior Composite Design Engineer.

FULL TIMESENIOR LEVELENGINEERING
Shape the composite components that drive Formula 1 performance.

We’re looking for experienced Senior Composite Design Engineers to join our Composite Design group, developing lightweight, structurally efficient composite components for our Formula 1 car.

You’ll take ownership of substantial design projects, translating initial concepts into detailed component designs, assemblies and associated tooling. Working closely with colleagues across Engineering, you’ll apply your knowledge of composite design and manufacturing to solve challenges through assembly, testing and development, while helping develop the capability of junior engineers.

Please note: We’re always looking to attract the best talent to our team and welcome interest from candidates with a range of experience, including those operating at a more senior level. Role scope and responsibilities will be tailored to reflect the successful candidate’s experience and expertise.
  • Develop composite design schemes from preliminary concepts through to detailed component designs, assemblies, jigs, patterns and tooling.
  • Surface components and produce and review laminate specification booklets.
  • Take ownership of large-scale projects, delivering design solutions efficiently and to demanding timescales.
  • Provide technical follow-up during assembly, testing and development, investigating issues and implementing practical, timely solutions.
  • Develop and improve design concepts to deliver lightweight, cost-effective and structurally efficient solutions.
  • Work closely with the Lead Engineer and other departments to coordinate workloads, resolve technical challenges and progress projects.
  • Help organise and delegate work within the group to ensure projects progress effectively.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge of composite design, manufacturing methods and engineering best practice.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a composite engineering-related discipline.
  • Experience developing design schemes and detailed drawings for complex composite components and assemblies to demanding timescales, ideally within Formula 1 or high-level motorsport.
  • Experience using 3D CAD systems, ideally with a good working knowledge of CATIA.
  • Strong understanding of solid modelling techniques and composite manufacturing processes, particularly pre-preg technology.
  • Experience developing composite designs and resolving technical issues through assembly, testing and development.
  • A proactive, practical approach to engineering challenges, with the confidence to make sound technical decisions.
  • The ability to take ownership of projects, work effectively under pressure and deliver results to challenging deadlines.
  • The ability to mentor and motivate others, building effective working relationships across teams.

Make an Impact
Lead complex composite design challenges, share your expertise and develop those around you, delivering innovative, lightweight solutions that enhance the performance, reliability and competitiveness of our Formula 1 car.

Investing in your career is paramount. We promote professional and personal development through a provision of learning opportunities and work with you to shape your career and realise your full potential.

As part of our high-performing, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a competitive package, including a discretionary bonus scheme, private healthcare, pension plan, life assurance, TEDSgroup childcare benefits, a cycle-to-work scheme, tech scheme, and car scheme.
