This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, and aligning purchasing strategies with the company's objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, extensive experience in procurement within a manufacturing setting, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in the purchasing process. Responsibilities: Leadership Requirements Lead and mentor a team of international sourcing professionals, setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance standards. Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance. Cost Management Develop and manage the purchasing budget, ensuring cost-effective practices. Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking for competitive pricing. Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality standards. Inventory Management Collaborate with production and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels. Monitor inventory and coordinate timely replenishment. Implement effective inventory control systems. Quality Assurance Ensure all purchased materials meet required quality standards and specifications. Work closely with quality teams to address supplier-related quality issues. Develop and maintain procurement quality assurance procedures. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure compliance with local and international procurement regulations. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks. Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and supplier agreements. Team Management Lead and develop the purchasing team through guidance, feedback, and training. Conduct regular performance reviews and promote professional development. Ensure the team is equipped to perform effectively and meet business goals. Reporting and Analysis Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics. Analyze data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management. Cross-Functional Collaboration Manager and Work together with Johor/ Singapore plant suppliers Interact and collaborate with Tai Chang, US R&D and other sites where required Collaborate with production, engineering, finance, and logistics teams to support business objectives. Participate actively in cross-functional projects to drive operational excellence. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Excellent understanding of supply chain management principles. Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive performance improvements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Fluency in English and Malay; additional languages are a plus. Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPM) is preferred.
