With our ingenuity, drive and deep curiosity we discover new insights, innovations, and solutions that efficiently and responsibly resolve complex natural resource, digital, energy transition and infrastructure challenges. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic students with a love of learning and problem solving to join our UK Imaging team as Summer Interns! Do you want to learn how physics and mathematics are used to solve real-world challenges? Our geophysicists use their scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills to apply the latest signal processing & imaging techniques to create state of the art 3-D seismic images and models of the subsurface reflectivity and rock properties. As an intern, you will work closely with a team of geophysicists on an ongoing seismic imaging project. You’ll take responsibility for testing a key project topic and gain invaluable experience in a professional scientific environment. What will it involve? This is a paid internship which we plan to run for 8 weeks from the 22nd June to the 17th August. You will be based in Crawley, a town just south of London, with excellent transport links to central London, the South Coast, the wider UK, and international destinations via nearby Gatwick Airport. There will be training in the first week on in-house software, introductory geology & geophysics and client technical presentation skills. You will also be invited to attend internal technical seminars, have access to our considerable training resources and be buddied up with a geophysicist. Qualifications You must be based in the UK in your third year of an integrated Master’s degree OR in your final year of a Bachelor’s degree planning to start a postgraduate Master’s degree in 2027/28. The internship is open to anyone studying Physics & Astronomy, Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics or Geophysics. Application Process Submit your CV by 12:00 PM on 30th November 2026. If your initial application is accepted you will then be invited to complete a ten-minute one-way video interview by the 31st December 2026. If you are successful the final stage of the application process will involve a technical interview - depending on your location and university schedule this can be virtual or in-person. We anticipate these interviews taking place in February 2027. We receive a lot of very talented and enthusiastic applications for a limited number of intern positions. If you are not selected at the final interview stage for the internship but demonstrate the enthusiasm for science and key skills we look for then we may fast track your application for our 2028 graduate role. Explore our Careers page, Gradcracker Hub, and Viridien Stories to learn more about our people, projects, and application tips. You can also find a recent article and podcast co-produced with the New Scientist which gives a good insight into our work and culture. Benefits Paid position Accommodation organised and paid for by company Sports and social activities Onsite canteen Gain insight into the field of seismic imaging and the wider geoscience sector Genuinely curious and collaborative people to work with and learn from who share your love of problem solving! Our Hiring Process At Viridien, we are committed to delivering a respectful, inclusive, and transparent recruitment experience. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to provide individual feedback to every applicant. Only candidates whose qualifications closely match the role criteria will be contacted for an interview. If you require any reasonable adjustments to fully participate in the application or interview stages, please don’t hesitate to contact your recruiter directly. We see things differently. Diversity fuels our innovation, we value the unique ways in which we differ, and we are committed to equal employment opportunities for all professionals. Create a brighter future for yourself while taking on some of the world’s most complex geoscience challenges. Ready to join our team?
