  • Review blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid revisions to determine project scope and material quantities.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, pricing discrepancies, and potential budget risks before bid submission.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, compare pricing, and verify that all required scope items are covered.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages with detailed cost breakdowns, scope descriptions, assumptions, exclusions, and alternate options.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate alternative materials or construction methods while maintaining quality and specification requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field teams, general contractors, suppliers, and clients to clarify project scope and validate pricing.
  • Maintain cost databases, supplier pricing records, historical estimates, and organized bid documentation.
  • Develop preliminary budgets, negotiated pricing, change-order estimates, and revised bids as project requirements evolve.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-bid discussions.
  • Transition awarded estimates to project teams, providing detailed cost breakdowns and documented assumptions.
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting bid submission deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures and historical cost tracking to support pricing accuracy and consistency.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction trades.
  • Direct experience estimating commercial interior construction projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of drywall systems, metal stud assemblies, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and interior build-out methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, construction specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed construction estimates.
  • Ability to evaluate subcontractor bids, verify scope coverage, and resolve pricing discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or comparable estimating software.
  • Knowledge of construction labor rates, material costs, equipment expenses, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple bids and deliver accurate estimates under tight deadlines.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Steady pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Exposure to diverse drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and flooring projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
