Your Role Wind River, an Aptiv Company, is seeking a Member of Technical Staff – OS Kernel to contribute to the development of core kernel components for the VxWorks real-time operating system. Based in Kanata, Ontario, this role offers the opportunity to work on low-level operating system technologies used in mission-critical intelligent systems. You will work with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to design, implement, test, debug, and integrate core OS functionality while contributing to software quality, reliability, security, and continuous improvement. Roles and Responsibilities Develop and maintain core operating system technologies and kernel components for the VxWorks embedded RTOS. Design, implement, test, and validate high-quality software following Agile methodologies and a CI/CD development model. Investigate, debug, and resolve complex software issues identified through product verification or reported by customers. Create and maintain technical design documentation for new and existing operating system functionality. Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality and engineering best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support hardware and software integration. Contribute to technical projects from requirements and design through implementation, delivery, and release. Your Background Strong understanding of operating system concepts and core OS/kernel functionality. Hands-on experience with RTOS and embedded software development. Strong proficiency in C programming and embedded systems development. Experience debugging complex low-level software issues. Experience with low-level device drivers, BSP board bring-up, or architecture-specific development is preferred. Experience with Assembly, C++, Python, or other development languages is a plus. Experience developing software compliant with industry certification standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, ASPICE, or MIL standards is a plus. Ability to independently drive technical work from requirements and design through implementation and delivery. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative engineering environments. Compensation The compensation range for this role is $110,000 to $140,000 CAD plus an annual incentive plan bonus. Compensation is determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, abilities, and internal equity.
