Credit Controller.

FULL TIMEHYBRIDFINANCE & LEGAL

What’s the Opportunity

We are looking for a Credit Controller to join our Finance team, working across our Daft Media, DoneDeal, and Direct Media brands.  We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for credit control and accounts administration who thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. Credit control is central to our business, and in this role you'll see the direct impact of your work every day.

You'll work closely with the Senior Credit Controller to ensure accounts are managed accurately and on time, in line with company procedures. You'll support debt collection across Daft, DoneDeal and Direct Media — from allocating payments and chasing missed payments, to handling failed Direct Debits and following up with customers. Scope may expand to additional Distilled brands as the company grows.

In this role, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Numerate - You’ll be working with invoices, payments and outstanding balances.

  • Organised and efficient - We issue over 5,000 invoices per month.

  • Level-headed - You can keep their cool in difficult situations.

  • Pragmatic - You use good judgement when contacting customers in relation to debt.

  • Highly organised with an eye for detail as well as an ability to work towards specific targets.

  • Clear, confident communicator comfortable talking on the phone.

  • Proactive team player comfortable to work towards priorities and targets independently.

  • Always looking to improve and enhance processes who can demonstrate this using clear examples from previous roles.

  • Curious about AI - someone who's keen to use AI tools to work smarter and more efficiently, not just stick to the old way of doing things.

How you’ll Create with Impact

  • Assisting with the collection of outstanding monies promptly and efficiently

  • Making calls to customers with accounts in arrears, emailing customers and working with our sales and customer service teams

  • Sending out emails, statements and final payment reminders to customers and other ad hoc customer requests

  • Ensuring customers pay within agreed credit terms

  • Receiving incoming customer, EFTs and remittance advice and applying payments to customer accounts, including allocation and reconciliation of receipts

  • Tracking and resolving failed Direct Debits (due to cancelled mandates or insufficient funds), escalating issues to the Sales team if not settled within agreed timeframes

  • Working towards specific targets/KPIs for debt collection (90+ %, Reduction of DSO and cash collected)

  • Highlighting accounts with significant risk

  • Dealing efficiently and effectively with incoming calls and customer queries to facilitate payments from customers

  • Collaborate with sales and customer services as required in order to correctly setup customers in accordance with company guidelines, and maintain an accurate position on customer accounts

What you’ll need to Play your Part

  • 2+ years Credit Control experience in a fast paced environment

  • Passion for excellent customer service and pursuing a career in credit control

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and highly numerate

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets

  • Flexible and able to adapt to challenging environments and situations

  • Self starter who can work on their own initiative and demonstrate the ability to be a great teammate

  • Customer focused with the ability to collaborate with other departments

  • A positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude and flexible approach to work

  • Self-motivated and highly organised, able to multitask and prioritise work

  • Highly efficient with the ability to prioritise tasks and ensure that all documentation and queries are dealt with in a timely manner

  • Experience of working with tools such as Salesforce, Xero, GoCardless, and Stripe or similar
