About the role
We are looking for a Head of Operations mainly to own the operation of our SOFIPO as a regulated entity, And to support the rest of the operations team of the group, including other regulated entities. You will guarantee we operate within our regulatory framework and prudential limits, deliver regulatory reports on time, run corporate governance and manage our relationship with the CNBV. You will lead the start of operations together with our regulatory advisor, build the team and be accountable for the SOFIPO running smoothly on a daily basis.
What you’ll be doing at albo:
- Lead the start-of-operations plan together with our regulatory advisor: manuals, policies, committees, processes and team required to operate the SOFIPO.
- Monitor capital, liquidity, regulatory limits and the SOFIPO's operating level every day, and alert the COO and the board early when an indicator approaches a limit.
- Make sure regulatory reports to the CNBV and other authorities are delivered on time and accurately, working with Accounting and Finance.
- Prepare and follow up on board and committee sessions (Credit, Audit, Risk, Communication and Control) and their resolutions.
- Act as the SOFIPO's counterpart to the CNBV in information requests, inspections, observations and remediation plans.
- Define what the SOFIPO can and cannot do in deposit taking and lending, and give regulatory sign-off on products and processes before launch.
- Agree with the areas shared with the IFPE (technology, product, finance, AML/CFT) what is shared, what must be separate and how it is documented.
- Work with the independent control functions (risk management, internal audit, AML/CFT compliance officer and internal control) as their operational counterpart, giving them the information and access they need.
- Build and lead the operations team.
About you and what type of skills you'll need:
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, Engineering or a related field.
- +10 years of experience working at financial entities supervised by the CNBV that take deposits from the public (SOFIPO, bank or SOCAP), including leadership roles.
- Meets the requirements of the Ley de Ahorro y Crédito Popular for senior officers: at least five years in high-level decision-making roles with financial and administrative experience, good credit standing, good repute and residence in Mexico.
- Hands-on experience operating under the Ley de Ahorro y Crédito Popular and the CNBV general provisions: capital, liquidity, operating levels, credit committee and regulatory reporting.
- Track record as a direct counterpart to the CNBV and preparing board and committee sessions.
- Working knowledge of Mexico's AML/CFT framework.
- Experience building and leading teams from the ground up.
- Experience in a start of operations, change of control or authorization of a regulated financial entity is a plus.
- Knowledge of IFPE regulation under the Ley Fintech is a plus.
- Ability to talk to the authorities and manage regulatory environments
- Spanish native and professional English.
- Based in Mexico City, with availability to work on-site.
