Job Family: Admitting Representative Travel Required: Up to 10% Clearance Required: None Patient Access Representative – Emergency Department Location: UAB St. Vincent’s East (Free Standing ER in Trussville, AL) 100% Onsite Full-Time Schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday 6:00pm-6:30am What You Will Do: Greet patients and provide exceptional, compassionate customer service. Perform accurate registration, arrival, and check-in functions. Collect complete demographic and insurance information and obtain required patient signatures. Conduct real-time insurance eligibility and benefits verification. Explain financial responsibilities, collect patient portions, and perform cashiering/collections, referring to Financial Counseling when needed. Handle inpatient admission and observation admission processes, including network benefit verification and required Medicare documentation. Escalate complex registrations as appropriate. Mentor and precept new associates; assist with orientation and training. Consistently meet or exceed individual performance goals. Knowledge of all Federal, State, and Local Laws pertaining to insurance rules and regulations. Utilizes multiple computer systems. Other duties as assigned. What You Will Need: High School graduate or GED or 2+ years of relevant work experience 0-2+ years of experience working in a hospital, medical, clinical OR customer service environment What Would Be Nice to Have: Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM.
