Job description
About the team
We are seeking a commercially minded, detail-oriented and proactive Supply Planning Manager to lead the planning of purchased finished goods across the regional supply network. The portfolio includes Inter Unit Supply (IUS) products sourced from other Castrol entities and finished goods purchased from third-party (3P) manufacturers or suppliers. The role ensures the right products are available in the right place and at the right time to meet customer demand, while balancing service, inventory, cost and supply-chain resilience.
Using Castrol’s global digital planning platform, Kinaxis Maestro, the Supply Planning Manager owns the medium-to-long-term purchased-products supply plan across warehouses, source locations and external suppliers for the assigned portfolio. The role converts demand into planned purchase and transfer requirements, identifies network, supplier, logistics and inventory constraints, and leads cross-functional mitigation through the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) processes.
The role also provides day-to-day leadership to the supply planning team, setting priorities, building capability, ensuring consistent planning standards and creating a collaborative, accountable and customer-focused team culture across locations and time zones.
Shift Timing: 3am to 12p IST
Key tasks
- Purchased Products Supply Planning: Manage medium-to-long-term supply plans for IUS and third-party finished goods, translating demand into purchase/transfer requirements while balancing inventory, service levels, lead times, and supply constraints.
- IUS & Third-Party Planning: Coordinate with Castrol source units, suppliers, Procurement, Logistics, and market teams to manage replenishment, shipment priorities, supplier capacity, constraints, and supply risks.
- Inventory Management: Maintain product availability while minimizing excess, ageing, and obsolete inventory; manage stock allocation and improve inventory health and turns.
- S&OP / S&OE: Identify supply risks and opportunities, recommend mitigation scenarios, and drive cross-functional resolution of shortages, delays, allocation issues, and other supply constraints.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the supply planning team, strengthening capability across IUS, third-party planning, inventory management, scenario planning, and Kinaxis Maestro.
- Systems & Continuous Improvement: Use Kinaxis Maestro and ERP systems for planning and exception management, monitor key supply and inventory KPIs, maintain planning master data, and drive process and digital improvements.
Experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 8–12 years of experience in supply planning, replenishment, purchased-products planning, inventory management or related supply-chain roles within FMCG, food and beverage, lubricants, chemicals or manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience planning imported or transferred finished goods and/or products sourced from third-party manufacturers or suppliers.
- Demonstrated people-management experience, including coaching, capability building, priority setting and managing performance across a planning team.
- Proven experience using an advanced planning system, ideally Kinaxis Maestro, for supply planning, exception management and scenario analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex supply information into clear decisions and actions.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as JDE, together with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and relevant reporting tools.
- Good understanding of S&OP, S&OE, DRP, inventory management, purchase planning, international supply flows and third-party supplier management.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions, cultures, countries and organisational levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through ambiguity in a dynamic, global and fast-paced environment.
