Live Broadcast Engineer.

ENGINEERING
Do you thrive when the stakes are highest and the cameras are live? Operations Shared Services is looking for a driven, detail-obsessed Live Broadcast Engineer to manage and drive reliability within a fast-paced, multichannel on-air operations environment — maintaining optimal on-air availability and reliability for live events. This is a critical role at the heart of what we do: keeping our broadcasts on air, our audiences engaged, and our team performing at the highest level, 24/7. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Coordinate with other engineers and master control; provide guidance for the execution of master control functions pertaining to live-event execution. Coordinate with master control supervisor to train operators in operational best practices, issue resolution, and recovery of live events. Develop a deep knowledge of the operation's technical architecture and on-air systems. Resolve issues quickly and effectively to prevent on-air discrepancies. Manage the end-to-end execution of all live events including preparation, in-event execution, and off-air adjustments. Actively participate in the operation's change control procedures by approving and maintaining awareness of all on-air maintenances and by managing critical components of maintenance operating procedures. Assume transmission responsibilities as needed, including monitoring of uplinks, booking, QCing (monitoring for quality control) and occasional remotes. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Associates degree in a related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience Generally 2+ years of experience in related field preferred WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing scenarios preferred Thorough understanding of television production, broadcast engineering operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements Technological curiosity and an improvement-oriented approach Unwavering composure in high-pressure situations Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations preferred Acute attention to detail Excellent interpersonal communication skills Willingness and availability to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays is required to support 24x7 operation WHERE YOU'LL LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY: Clearwater, Florida is a sun-soaked Gulf Coast gem known for its strikingly clear turquoise waters and white-sand beaches — most notably Clearwater Beach, consistently ranked among the best beaches in the United States. The city offers an active, outdoor-forward lifestyle with year-round boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing right at your doorstep, along with easy access to dozens of parks and nature preserves throughout the region. As part of the greater Tampa Bay area, Clearwater residents enjoy all the cultural amenities of a major metro while living at a more relaxed pace. The region is home to professional sports teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays, and Lightning, as well as a thriving restaurant scene, live music venues, and world-class attractions like the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Spring training baseball brings added energy each year, with the Philadelphia Phillies calling nearby Spectrum Field home. Beyond the beach, Clearwater and the surrounding Tampa Bay area are experiencing exciting growth across the arts, tech, and culinary sectors. With a relatively affordable cost of living compared to other Florida metros, no state income tax, and a warm climate virtually year-round, Clearwater is a place where your career and your quality of life can both flourish. #LI-SM2 #LI-Onsite If you are a current Scripps employee, please do not apply on this site.
