UWorld

United States

Tax and Advisory Content Developer.

FULL TIMEREMOTEENGINEERING

UWorld’s Surgent CPE provides continuing professional education that helps CPAs and tax professionals remain current with changes in tax law and practice. An individual in this position serves as a subject matter expert, developing accurate, timely tax content for Surgent’s live seminars, webinars, self-study courses, and the Surgent Income Tax School (ITS). The role turns new legislation and IRS guidance into material for two audiences: experienced practitioners who need technical depth, and newer professionals who need foundational instruction.

Duties/Responsibilities: The key duties/responsibilities for an individual in this position include:

  • Surgent CPE Course Development: Write and revise Surgent CPE course materials, including course books (technical content, examples, supplemental resources, and learning and exam questions) and accompanying presentation slides. Develop new courses on emerging and in-demand tax topics. Keep all content in line with current legislation, IRS guidance, and inflation-adjusted figures, ensuring content is timely and reflects the latest developments.
  • Surgent Income Tax School: Update ITS courses and practice manual, including review questions, final exam questions, answer explanations, and practical learning activities such as tax return preparation exercises. Write new content as needed to reflect tax law changes and current topics. Recalculate quantitative questions for inflation adjustments, including correct answers and explanations.
  • Monitoring Tax Developments: Review legislation, IRS guidance, case law, and industry developments each day. Identify topics that call for new or revised content.
  • CPE Q&A: Provide timely, well-informed answers to technical tax questions from practicing CPAs and other professionals.
  • Thought Leadership: Write articles and blog posts for Surgent and outside publications on an as-needed basis.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Workspace
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • Active CPA or attorney license required
  • Experience in content development, technical writing, instructional design, or teaching preferred
