Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Phlebotomy Job Family Allied Health Work Shift Summary Identifies patient, uses good technique to obtain specimen using venous or capillary methods, verifies and labels specimen prior to leaving patient. Prioritizes and transports specimens within stated TAT. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Provides direction and guidance for questions and or problems referred by a non-certified phlebotomist concerning specimen acceptability, unusual or difficult draws or related problems Performs accurate and appropriate collection and receipt of specimens in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures. Follows established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions, safety, fire safety, disasters, exposure, blood borne and airborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and chain of custody procedures.
