Completes tasks from referring providers to find the next level of care for patients. Faxes or makes phone calls to specialists' offices and patients regarding appointments. Contacts insurance companies for prior authorizations and ensures referred providers are in-network. Mails new patient paperwork and referral information to patients. Contacts patients regarding any in-progress or pending referrals. Maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation in the referral tracking database and the patient's EHR. Communicates with clinical staff and physicians about issues related to patient referrals or the need for further follow-up care. Ensures referrals are addressed in a timely, consistent, and organized manner to avoid delays in patient care. Completes insurance verification when applicable. Generates and mails self-pay letters to patients as directed. Provides a safe, quiet, and private work environment free from distractions. Performs other duties as assigned.
