Senior Associate – Corporate.

FULL TIMESENIOR LEVEL

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced senior associate with eight or more years’ PQE to join our Auckland corporate team, working alongside Nick Bragg and Sarah McEwan.  This is an opportunity to take a leading role in complex, high-value M&A and capital markets transactions for major New Zealand and international clients.

The role will focus on private and public M&A, including takeovers and schemes of arrangement, together with equity and debt capital markets transactions.  You will also advise on associated corporate structuring, corporate advisory and governance matters.

You will work closely with Sarah, Nick and the wider team on some of the largest and most significant transactions in the New Zealand market, often involving cross-border matters.  You will be expected to lead key workstreams, provide clear and commercially focused advice, manage client relationships and support the development of junior lawyers.  The practice also advises participants of various kinds in relation to capital raising and other growth transactions, including in relation to early-stage and high-growth tech companies.

What matters to us

We value people who bring a different perspective and are curious, collaborative and commercially minded.  To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have eight or more years’ PQE in corporate law, with substantial experience in capital markets and M&A transactions
  • Have strong technical experience across private and public M&A including cross-border transactions, as well as expertise with equity or debt capital markets transactions
  • Be able to lead complex transaction workstreams, manage competing priorities and maintain close attention to detail
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and communicate complex legal issues clearly
  • Build trusted client relationships and work effectively with advisers, regulators and other stakeholders
  • Enjoy supervising and developing junior lawyers while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

What we offer

A career with us gives you the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients within internationally recognised teams, alongside some of New Zealand's leading legal talent to shape the future of business in New Zealand.  We offer a range of benefits that enable you to be the best you can be:

  • Competitive remuneration, a flexible wellness benefit that includes health insurance and an employee assistance programme
  • A range of leave benefits (including market-leading parental leave)
  • An extensive professional development programme
  • Flexible working practices
  • Regular social events, wellness initiatives, charity drives, and opportunities to join various committees.

About us

Our culture and the focus on collaboration is the foundation of who we are.  In joining us, you will feel valued, connected and supported.  You will work in a collaborative environment where you can grow while feeling balanced in your personal and professional life.  We bring the highest quality approach to everything we do and measure our success by the exceptional experiences we provide.  Our purpose is to empower our people to be exceptional and in turn, help our clients achieve great things.
