Job Title: Food Service Associate Department: Food and Nutrition Services Location: Rochester General Hospital Address: 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621 Hours Per Week: Per Diem Schedule: Weekday shifts 3:45p-7:30p Every other Weekends Position Summary: Responsible to perform necessary food service duties related to preparation and service of food to patients, residents and customers of RRH facilities. Key Responsibilities: The employee must consistently demonstrate the following essential functions: • Assembly of all patient, resident and customer meals or nourishments according to menu and diet specifications while utilizing proper food handling practices in a timely and organized manner. • Perform all required duties in the facilities dish room or designated cleaning area. • Responsible for the delivery of food carts, to and from the units while maintaining excellent customer relations. • Responsible for accurate delivery and filling of supplies to units as required. • Assist with maintaining organization of the coolers, freezers, and dry storage to facilitate inventory control. • Maintain work areas in a safe, sanitary and orderly manner, demonstrating proper equipment use and sanitation techniques. • Replenish work stations and supplies for the next meal or shift. • Responsible for safe operation of food service equipment and utilizing personal protective equipment according to manufacturer labels and SDS information. • Responsible for attending and retaining all staff meetings and in-service training. • Maintain a positive representation of Food and Nutrition Services through professionalism, hygiene and uniform. • Perform other duties as assigned within the department. • Cash handling and register use may be required. Desired Attributes: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred. Previous food service experience preferred. Able to understand the English language highly preferred. Able to prioritize and follow verbal and written instructions highly preferred. Customer service driven highly desired. Minimum Qualifications: NA Required Licensure/Certification Skills: NA EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required. PAY RANGE: $16.00 - $18.36 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE.
