Job Title: Access Associate - Float Department: Ambulatory Float Location: Float - Rochester area in Monroe County Hours Per Week: 40, Full-time Schedule: Monday-Friday, start time as early as 730 and end times as late as 530 SUMMARY: The Float role is responsible to float to ambulatory practices within the system service lines where a need has been identified. The Float role is responsible to assist with providing support to operations, in collaboration with nursing and medical support staff in a medical office setting. In a customer service-oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and/or their representative with regards to their financial assistance needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information. • Greeting of patients and/or their representatives and providing direction as needed. • Scheduling and/or prescheduling patient appointments. • Interviewing the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completing the registration process as defined by departmental policy. • Identification of services where no payment source has been identified to be followed up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements. • Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary precertification/authorizations when applicable. • Collecting/processing co-payments, deductibles and/or other types of payments. Provides an estimate of cost when applicable. • Reviews charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy. • Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy. • Communication with external customers such as but not limited to; payers, physician offices and other departments. • Accurately sets up new patient record via Care Connect. • Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • None required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Associates Degree • One year of customer service experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: • Valid New York State (NYS) driver’s license required EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $18.25 - $20.50 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14611 The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position.
