The Role As an Associate, Cash, Collateral & Settlements Operations, on a 12-month contract, you will support investment operations across public and private markets, with a focus on collateral management, transaction settlements, investment accounting and operational controls. You will work closely with Investment Departments, Finance, Legal, Risk and external counterparties to support accurate and timely transaction processing, resolve operational issues and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, automation and risk management. The Team Investment Operations supports CPP Investments' public and private investment activities through transaction management, asset servicing, investment accounting, reporting and valuations. The function helps maintain accurate investment records, effective operational controls and timely processing across asset classes. Accountabilities Oversee daily investment operations workflows, including transaction processing, settlements, position validation and the accuracy of investment records across IBOR, sub-ledgers and ABOR. Support investment closings by reviewing documentation, validating transaction details and authorizations, completing system setups and coordinating settlements with internal stakeholders. Provide oversight and support for collateral management activities across futures, options, OTC and centrally cleared derivatives, repos, prime brokerage and securities lending transactions. Monitor and resolve margin disputes, reconciliation breaks, settlement issues and collateral discrepancies, working collaboratively with internal teams and external counterparties. Support investment accounting, financial reporting and monthly or quarterly valuation reviews, ensuring accurate records, timely adjustments and escalation of discrepancies. Maintain effective operational controls, procedures and documentation; coordinate audit and compliance requests and support the timely resolution of operational risks. Identify opportunities to improve processes, automation and straight-through processing, including the use of AI-enabled tools, while sharing expertise and supporting operational excellence. Execute daily margin and collateral activities, including validating and processing margin calls, selecting, and allocating collateral, instructing and monitoring cash and securities movements, reconciling collateral balances, and applying contractual terms and eligibility requirements. What You Bring An undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of derivatives operations, collateral management processes, financing products and investment transaction settlements. Strong analytical, financial accounting and management accounting skills, with the ability to understand the impact of complex investment transactions on reporting and performance. Advanced Excel skills, comfort learning new systems and the ability to manage complex operational workflows with accuracy and attention to detail. Experience working with investment operations platforms such as Bloomberg, Murex, SimCorp, AcadiaSoft, TriOptima or similar systems is an asset. Exposure to SQL, data analysis or reporting tools, and demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve productivity, analysis and process efficiency are assets. Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external counterparties. Professional designations such as CBV, CFA or CPA are assets. You are motivated to contribute to something larger than yourself, approach complex challenges with rigor, and hold yourself to high standards in a collaborative, performance-driven environment. We provide colleagues with cutting-edge AI tools, dedicated learning time, and practical support to help them deliver with greater impact.
