EDF UK

London, gb

Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Product Lead.

FULL TIMESENIOR LEVELPRODUCT

Ready to lead one of the UK's largest Virtual Power Plants and help shape the future of energy flexibility? If you enjoy turning complex business challenges into scalable technology solutions, this is an opportunity to make a real impact. At EDF, Success is Personal, and this role offers the chance to help define the future of flexibility services while developing your career your way.

The Opportunity

As our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Product Lead, you'll own and drive the product roadmap for a platform that already optimises more than 100,000 connected assets, including EV chargers and battery storage. You'll play a pivotal role in helping EDF accelerate the transition towards An Electric Britain by unlocking greater value from flexible energy assets and expanding our flexibility capabilities.

This is a hybrid role with flexibility around your working location, requiring the ability to work from our #London office twice a week. You'll collaborate with colleagues across Trading, Optimisation, Technology and Operations while influencing key decisions that shape the direction of the platform.

You'll operate at the intersection of energy markets, technology and operations, leading product development that improves asset optimisation, supports greater automation and enables the platform to scale alongside EDF's growing portfolio of flexible assets. This is an opportunity to influence both strategic direction and day-to-day performance within a rapidly evolving area of the business.

Who You Are

We're looking for a VPP Product Lead with strong product management expertise, a structured approach and the ability to build alignment across technical, commercial and operational stakeholders. You'll be comfortable translating complex business needs into clear product priorities while driving delivery through technology teams. Are you experienced in...?

  • Proven product management experience, ideally owning complex technology products and product roadmaps
  • Experience operating at the intersection of technology, operations and commercial stakeholders
  • Translating business needs into product requirements and managing delivery through technical teams
  • Working with operational teams and external technology partners to improve platform capability and efficiency
  • Strong stakeholder management across Trading, Technology and Operational teams
  • Building or developing operational processes and capabilities alongside product development

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning and driving the VPP product roadmap to maximise value from EDF's growing portfolio of flexible assets
  • Translating business and operational requirements into clear priorities for technology teams and external delivery partners
  • Partnering with Trading, Optimisation, Technology and Operations teams to enhance platform capabilities and revenue generation
  • Overseeing platform performance, operational reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting the growth and scaling of the VPP while improving efficiency and reducing operating costs

Pay, Benefits and Culture

This role has a starting salary of £80,000, however, you’ll be appointed based on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. Alongside potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that's unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it's your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we're committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.
