Psychiatrist.

FULL TIME

As a Psychiatrist supporting international disability examinations, you'll evaluate mental health conditions potentially connected to military service through clinical interviews, psychiatric assessments, and diagnostic reporting. Your focus will be on examination findings and documentation rather than ongoing patient treatment.

Assignments are offered on an as-needed, independent contractor basis, with no permanent relocation or full-time commitment required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations using clinical interviews, observations, standardized assessments, and medical history reviews.
  • Assess and diagnose mental health conditions using current DSM criteria, referring individuals for psychological testing when appropriate.
  • Document clinical findings, diagnoses, symptoms, and relevant medication information in Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and supporting reports.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, securely submit examination findings daily, and close assigned cases within 48 hours.
  • Coordinate with clinical leadership to maintain examination quality, patient confidentiality, and adherence to established clinical standards.

Training specific to the VA disability examination process will be arranged.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice psychiatry in the United States, a U.S. territory, or Canada.
  • At least two years of full-time experience working as a Psychiatrist, including experience with adult patients.
  • Knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria and crisis assessment techniques.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Valid U.S. passport or passport from your country of record.
  • Ability to travel internationally for assigned examinations.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
