Operations Freight Coordinator.

FULL TIMEPEOPLE & OPS

Working closely with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines and transport providers, you will help ensure shipments are coordinated efficiently, documentation is accurate, and customers receive a professional and responsive service.  In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate import and export shipments, processing freight documentation and monitoring shipments through to final delivery.
  • Liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines and transport providers to keep freight moving and resolve operational queries.
  • Process customer bookings, prepare freight quotations, assist with job costing and complete customer invoicing.
  • Arrange transport, collections and deliveries, coordinating drivers and carriers to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records, job files and operational systems, ensuring compliance with relevant customs, MPI and industry requirements.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the wider freight, warehouse and logistics teams.

As we are a small branch, you will be reliable, self-motivated and confident working independently with minimal supervision.  A high level of flexibility, adaptability and openness to change will be required, as well as willingness to get involved in other areas of freight forwarding and logistics, including warehousing, sales and general branch operations.

This is a great opportunity to become part of a busy and supportive freight team, where you'll gain exposure to a broad range of international freight and logistics activities and make a real contribution to delivering excellent customer service.

If you are someone who is proactive, willing to take initiative and happy to pitch in wherever needed, we would love to talk with you!

You'll be an organised and adaptable team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment. You'll bring:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in freight forwarding.
  • An understanding of import/export documentation and international freight processes.
  • Strong administration skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communication and relationship-building skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong MS Office experience.

This is a full-time permanent role based in Wellington. You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.

Our Transam Contribution:

  • Competitive benefits package (hourly rate plus bonus)
  • Opportunity for development and internal mobility
  • Wonderful Giving - allowing you to donate company money to a cause of your choice
  • Wonderful Neighbour - spend a day in the community helping with various projects
  • Company focused on wellness and health

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a vital operational function within a respected transport organisation. You’ll be part of a supportive team culture that values safety, integrity, and professionalism — where your leadership directly contributes to our performance and reputation in the industry.  Apply now!
