Director of Finance.

FULL TIMEREMOTELEADERSHIPFINANCE & LEGAL$120K–150K/MO

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Finance based in the United States.

The Director of Finance will lead the full finance and accounting function of a fast-growing healthcare technology organization transforming pharmacy benefits management. Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the CFO and executive team, this leader will oversee financial planning, accounting operations, forecasting, treasury, tax, and financial reporting. The role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational ownership, ensuring the business has the systems, controls, and insights needed to scale sustainably. A key focus will be translating pharmacy benefit economics into actionable decisions around client profitability, product performance, pricing, and capital allocation. This remote-first opportunity offers significant influence over business strategy and a pathway toward broader financial leadership as the organization grows.

Accountabilities

The Director of Finance will build and manage a scalable financial function, lead the accounting team, and provide the financial insight and infrastructure required to support operational performance, strategic decisions, and continued growth.

  • Lead, develop, and manage the accounting team, overseeing general ledger activities, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial statements.

  • Direct financial planning and analysis, including the annual operating plan, budget, sales plan, financial models, and rolling forecasts.

  • Develop contribution margin reporting by client and product line, alongside key performance indicators and leadership dashboards.

  • Partner with Sales and Client Success to establish pricing for new business and renewals, including the modeling, monitoring, and reconciliation of pricing and performance guarantees.

  • Oversee treasury operations, pharmacy claims payment cycles, client billing and collections, cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.

  • Establish capital allocation frameworks, including financial planning for investments and headcount.

  • Build and strengthen internal controls, financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and processes to support a growing organization.

  • Lead tax compliance and filings, financial audits, client and plan sponsor audits, and SOC examinations.

  • Coordinate planning and oversight for state licensing fees, surety bonds, and other relevant financial obligations.

  • Prepare board-level financial packages and diligence-ready reporting in partnership with the CEO and CFO.

  • Provide financial guidance on partner and customer contracts, leases, facilities, HR policies, compliance matters, and strategic operating decisions.

  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners to ensure financial considerations are integrated into business planning and execution.

  • Assess and improve accounting operations, financial controls, and reporting processes, establishing a consistent monthly close and reliable forecasting practices.

  • Requirements

The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on finance leader with deep accounting expertise, strong FP&A capabilities, and experience supporting a high-growth healthcare or benefits organization. They should be comfortable leading teams, presenting to senior stakeholders, and building financial processes in an evolving environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • MBA or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred.

  • At least 10 years of finance experience, including financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and leadership responsibilities.

  • Experience working in fast-paced or high-growth organizations.

  • Strong corporate accounting expertise and a proven track record of successfully managing clean financial audits.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate accounting and finance teams.

  • Previous finance experience within a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), health plan, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare benefits organization.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and scenario analysis.

  • Experience with QuickBooks and business intelligence or financial reporting tools.

  • Proven ability to implement, improve, and scale financial systems, processes, and internal controls.

  • Executive presence and confidence presenting financial information to boards, investors, and senior leadership.

  • Clear communication skills, strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-changing business environment.

  • Additional qualifications considered an advantage:

  • Working knowledge of PBM economics, including AWP- and NADAC-based pricing, rebates, and client pricing and performance guarantees.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA, ERISA, and federal and state regulatory requirements applicable to pharmacy benefit managers.

  • Experience supporting client or plan sponsor audits and SOC 2 examinations.

  • Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $120,000–$150,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

  • Eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

  • Comprehensive medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Life insurance coverage.

  • Stock options.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.

  • Paid time off (PTO).

  • Full-time, remote-first work arrangement.

  • Opportunity to influence financial strategy and operations within a growing Public Benefit Corporation.

  • Collaborative environment focused on innovation and improving healthcare outcomes.

  • Occasional travel for company events and site meetings.
