The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a one-year, part-time International Fellow in Arabic that will begin August 25, 2027, through May 24, 2028. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Hispanic languages, literatures and cultures. Integral to these programs are the “Language Houses”: a cluster of dormitories assigned to each language program where undergraduate students live on the William & Mary campus; these dormitories are part of a residence hall known as the Global Village. Each Language House hosts an International Fellow with native or near-native proficiency in the target language and serves as a cultural ambassador for their country and language. The International Fellow will demonstrate openness to sharing their culture with pride and curiosity while fostering a cooperative environment that welcomes and values the perspectives of others. The International Fellow is expected to work Monday through Friday, and occasionally weekends, at the minimum of 20 hours and no more than 29 hours per week as per state policy.
