IS Quality Assurance Analyst.

FULL TIMEREMOTEQA$65K–81K/YR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IS Quality Assurance Analyst based in Canada.

In this role, you will help ensure the reliability, functionality, and quality of business-critical applications within a dynamic financial services environment. You will primarily focus on manual software testing, validating system functionality against business requirements and identifying potential issues before production release. Working closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders, you will contribute to the successful delivery of technology projects. You will take ownership of test planning, execution, defect management, and quality reporting while ensuring that all testing activities meet established standards and timelines. Your work will play an important role in protecting application integrity, improving user experiences, and supporting operational excellence. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a collaborative, inclusive, and fully remote technology environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Quality assurance and manual testing: Conduct comprehensive manual testing to validate application functionality against business requirements, ensuring that software releases and system changes meet established quality standards.
  • Requirements analysis: Collaborate with business analysts, developers, project managers, Scrum Masters, and functional stakeholders to review project requirements, clarify discrepancies, and establish a clear understanding of expected deliverables.
  • Test planning and estimation: Develop comprehensive testing strategies, prepare high-level test plans, create detailed functional test cases, and provide testing effort estimates during project initiation and planning.
  • Test execution and defect management: Execute planned test cases for software releases, production changes, data updates, and production incident fixes. Identify, document, track, and communicate defects to support timely resolution.
  • Quality documentation and audit readiness: Prepare detailed testing evidence and supporting documentation to demonstrate test execution. Ensure all records are securely maintained and properly archived for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Project coordination and reporting: Monitor testing activities against project timelines, ensure QA deliverables are completed on schedule, lead testing walkthroughs, and provide regular weekly progress reports to project stakeholders.
  • Release readiness assessment: Evaluate overall testing results, identify outstanding issues or risks, and provide recommendations regarding application readiness for production implementation.
  • Continuous improvement: Contribute to improving testing methodologies, quality assurance practices, and collaboration processes while adapting to evolving technology platforms and project requirements.
  • Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience in Quality Assurance, software testing, quality control, or a related IT position.
  • Previous experience in the financial services or mutual fund industry is required.
  • Good understanding of standard quality assurance methodologies, testing practices, and quality control principles.
  • Practical experience with test planning, test case development, manual test execution, defect identification, and issue tracking.
  • Foundational programming knowledge, preferably in Java or another object-oriented programming language, acquired through academic studies or professional experience, is considered an asset.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt testing approaches across web-based applications and digital or marketing technology platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and critical-thinking abilities, combined with a structured and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Curious and investigative mindset, with a genuine interest in understanding how applications, systems, and business processes operate.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple testing activities, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Collaborative attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn in a dynamic and evolving technology environment.
  • Must have current legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation: Total annual cash compensation ranging from CAD $65,000 to $81,000, including base salary and target discretionary performance bonus, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Retirement savings: Employer contributions to a Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) after six months of employment, with no employee matching requirement.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Health benefits effective from the first day of employment, with 100% employer-paid premiums.
  • Mental health support: Up to CAD $6,000 annually for eligible mental health services and therapy.
  • Parental benefits: Enhanced parental leave top-up providing up to 100% of salary for 25 weeks.
  • Remote work support: Fully remote working arrangement and up to CAD $650 toward home office equipment.
  • Flexible working arrangements: Work flexibility tailored to the requirements of the position.
  • Generous paid time off: Comprehensive time-off policy, including two additional paid volunteer days annually to support a charity of your choice.
  • Professional development: Access to more than 11,000 training and development courses, tuition reimbursement, and financial rewards for completing required professional designations.
  • Inclusive workplace: Employee Resource Groups and diversity and inclusion initiatives that encourage belonging, equal opportunity, and professional growth.
  • Recognized employer: Opportunity to join an organization recognized among Canada's Top 100 Employers, Greater Toronto's Top Employers, and several leading workplace inclusion and employee well-being rankings.
  • Career growth: Access to ongoing training, professional resources, and development opportunities in an established financial services environment.
