Microsoft .NET Software Engineer.

FULL TIMEREMOTEENGINEERING$115K–175K/YR

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Microsoft .NET Software Engineer based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft .NET Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable enterprise applications and software services. In this role, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. You will leverage C#, modern .NET technologies, ASP.NET Core, and Microsoft SQL Server to build reliable applications and high-performance APIs. Working within an Agile and DevSecOps environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining strong security and coding standards. You will also contribute to modernizing legacy applications, improving development workflows, and resolving complex production issues. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a technically strong engineer who values clean code, continuous improvement, and mission-critical software development.

Accountabilities

As a Microsoft .NET Software Engineer, you will develop and maintain enterprise software solutions while ensuring performance, security, and operational reliability. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Design, develop, and maintain applications and APIs using C#, .NET 6/8+, ASP.NET Core, MVC, Web API, Razor, Blazor, and Entity Framework Core.

    • Design and manage data models, write optimized SQL queries and stored procedures, and implement database migrations using Microsoft SQL Server.

    • Build, integrate, and consume RESTful services while connecting applications with enterprise platforms and third-party APIs.

    • Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest.

    • Support automated testing and contribute to continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

    • Participate in building and maintaining CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.

    • Support containerized application deployments where applicable.

    • Apply secure coding practices aligned with OWASP Top 10 standards and address findings from static code analysis and vulnerability scans.

    • Modernize and refactor legacy .NET Framework applications toward current .NET technologies and cloud-ready architectures.

    • Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement reliable solutions within established timelines.

    • Participate in architecture and design discussions, code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and technical documentation.

    • Collaborate with development and technical teams to ensure software quality, maintainability, and alignment with project requirements.

    • Requirements

The ideal candidate combines extensive software engineering experience with strong Microsoft .NET expertise and a solid understanding of secure enterprise application development. You should demonstrate:

      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with 8–10 years of software development experience. Additional relevant professional experience may substitute for a degree.

      • At least 4 years of hands-on C# and .NET development experience, including ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework.

      • Strong Microsoft SQL Server expertise, including T-SQL, database design, and query optimization.

      • Proven experience designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs.

      • Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

      • Working knowledge of at least one front-end framework, such as Angular, React, or Blazor.

      • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

      • Active Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance or higher. Candidates without at least an active Secret clearance will not be considered.

      • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

      • Ability to work remotely while maintaining a schedule aligned with Pacific Standard Time, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST.

      • Preferred Qualifications:

        • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including government cloud environments.

        • Knowledge of containerization technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.

        • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements for application security.

        • Experience migrating legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET architectures.

        • CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8140-qualifying certification.

        • Microsoft Azure Developer Associate certification (AZ-204).

        • Benefits

          • Annual Salary: $115,000–$175,000, depending on experience, skills, education, location, and other relevant factors.

          • Remote Work: 100% remote working arrangement within the United States.

          • Healthcare Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

          • Financial Protection: Life insurance coverage.

          • Retirement Plan: 401(k) savings plan.

          • Professional Development: Education assistance to support continued learning and career growth.

          • Paid Leave: Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and other leave required by applicable law.

          • Travel: Approximately 5% travel may be required.

          • Mission-Driven Environment: Opportunity to contribute to important government, defense, public health, and space-related technology initiatives.
