As a Part-Time Meat Cutter Apprentice, you’ll receive hands-on training while working alongside certified Meat Cutters to build the skills needed to become a certified Meat Cutter. The program includes training in fresh beef and pork cutting, packaging, merchandising, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation. What You’ll Do: Learn to cut and prepare fresh beef and pork to Meijer specifications Wrap, package, label, stock, and merchandise fresh meat products Follow production schedules to keep fresh meat cases stocked Learn proper grinding procedures and safe equipment operation Follow food safety, sanitation, and equipment safety standards Maintain a clean and organized work area Complete required hands-on training, learning courses, and certification assessments Work alongside certified Meat Cutters throughout the apprenticeship program What You Bring: Interest in learning a skilled trade and growing with Meijer Dependability and willingness to complete the apprenticeship program Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to follow safety, sanitation, and food-handling procedures Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing, and working in refrigerated areas Previous meat, retail, or food-handling experience is helpful but not required We opened our doors more than 90 years ago with the goal of helping people provide for themselves and their family.
