Job Description
As a Project Manager at the Talent Mobility Fund, a program of Renaissance Philanthropy, you will play a key role in standing up a new initiative from the ground up. The Project Manager will be the operational lead for one of the Talent Mobility Fund’s most consequential new bets: identifying and activating employer demand, building the recruiter relationships that make placements possible, and standing up the operational infrastructure that makes the model work at scale.
This position is remote. The compensation band is $123,000-$154,000, negotiable for the right candidate.
Contract option: We’d also consider strong candidates for a contract engagement in place of the full-time role. A contractor would work toward agreed milestones rather than covering day-to-day operations. The engagement would be remote, at 40 hours per week and $60.00-$75.00 per hour, with the specific scope, deliverables and timeline set out in a separate consulting agreement. The compensation band above applies to the full-time role. If you’re interested in the contract option, tell us in the application form.
Role and Responsibilities
Recruiter Relationship Development
Identify, contact, and build trusted relationships with U.S. technical recruiting firms — the firms with live client mandates and the relationship infrastructure to place talent at the most innovative U.S. companies.
Evaluate potential recruiter partners for fit, capacity, and interest in collaboration, and develop the relationships that make pilot placements possible.
Incentive Structuring
Investigate and evaluate options for managing fees between partners, including in-house administration, a la carte arrangements, and existing platforms.
Develop an optimal model, with a clear view of the trade-offs between simplicity, scalability, and recruiter alignment.
Design the philanthropy subsidy model, determining what costs need to be covered, at what price point, and for how long.
Relocation and Related Services
Identify and evaluate preferred providers for relocation support, assessing anticipated cost, speed, and fit for the placement model.
Own the end-to-end logistics for pilot placements: visa processing, relocation coordination, and onboarding support so that newly hired talent arrives and integrates successfully.
Stakeholder Coordination and Reporting
Maintain momentum across employers, recruiters, providers, relocation services, and Fund leadership — keeping the right people informed and the right decisions moving.
Maintain a clear, current picture of progress against milestones, flag blockers early, and deliver regular updates for Fund leadership and funders.
Key Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in the technical recruiting industry — you understand how placement fees work, how recruiters source candidates, and what makes a recruiting relationship valuable.
Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in ambiguous environments — you know how to build a plan when there isn't one, and how to keep multiple parties moving toward a shared goal.
An entrepreneurial operating style — you are energized by building from scratch, comfortable with pivots, and able to hold both the big picture and the operational details at the same time.
Strong relationship-building skills — you earn trust quickly with recruiters, employers, and service providers, and you know how to develop a cold contact into a genuine partner.
Clear, direct communication — with Fund leadership, external partners, and candidates.
Familiarity with U.S. immigration pathways (such as J-1, H-1B, O-1) is a strong plus; willingness to get up to speed quickly is required.
Outcomes
If you are successful in this role, within 6 months, we will have:
3–5 U.S. recruiting firm partnerships established, with searches underway
Recruiting partners engaged in 2–3 priority cities with high-quality candidate pipelines
Preferred relocation and service providers identified and under contract
Within 12 months:
A documented, repeatable placement process that the Fund can hand to a scaled team or external partner
Evidence that the model is working with a clear recommendation on how to scale this initiative beyond the pilot
Values
You will thrive within our team, if you:
Have strong mission and vision alignment: You believe in the power of science, innovation, and technology to create a brighter future for all.
Exhibit high agency: You can move mountains and break perceived constraints.
Inspire others and are highly collaborative: You can motivate others to join your mission and goals. You understand the value of going further by working with others.
Value exceptional talent and the power of networks: You can spot or nurture exceptional talent and believe in the value of building networks and the power law of talent.
Are comfortable working in fast-moving and ambitious teams: You are not afraid of ambiguity and enjoy working at pace.
Diversity
We encourage anyone who is interested in this role to apply, regardless of whether you feel you meet 100% of the qualifications. The top candidates will bring their own unique perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds from a variety of industries along with many but not necessarily all the skills listed above.
Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and retaining a diverse workforce is critical to our success. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
Renaissance Philanthropy is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
